About Alerts and Pings

"Alerts" and "Pings" are two independent methods for receiving automatic notification by email whenever a new item is posted on a feed. Two links are provided in the link strip across the top of every NewsPage for setting up the associated notification service: Set Up Pings and Create an Alert. Additionally, you will find the Set Up Pings link just below the display of a feed on a webpage.

You can set up a ping or alert for any feed on the site, but the "Recent Postings" feed, toward the top right of the home page, will immediately bring to your attention new postings onto *any* of the site's feeds. If you wish to get automatic notification when virtually anything new is posted on the site, we recommend you set up a Ping for "Recent Postings". It's easy, and you won't have to remember to visit the site to learn what's new.

Click the Set Up Pings link associated with a feed to be notifed by email when new items are posted on that feed -- without setting up an account anywhere. This is the simplest way to learn about a new posting without checking the feed itself or using other alerting methods that require you to have an account with the service. Pings are generated completely within Enfeedia and only available for feeds hosted by Enfeedia. For your privacy, we do not record your email address in our database until after you validate it, and we do not offer or sell email addresses uynder any conditions.

Click the Create an Alert link to learn how you can have email alerts sent to you when a new item is posted on this feed, and to get instructions for setting the alert. The alerts are generated by Yahoo. A Yahoo account is required to use this method of notification. You can set up an account in a few minutes.
