About Our New Website

Welcome to our newly redesigned website. Goals for the new design were:

1. To improve the organization of content to make things easier to find.

2. To greatly reduce the work involved with maintenance including posting new material.

3. To provide a means to selectively password-protect some content ("members-only" content)

4. To offer a new way for members to be kept abreast of news, events, policies, etc., by receiving alerts when such content is posted.

To improve organization, recognizing that Gold Mountain is supported by two organizations (the HOA and the CSD), the site is organized in a side-by-side fashion with HOA material on one side of the page and CSD material on the other. Content that is for joint responsibilities spans the two sides. Green and blue colors also help to keep clear what content belongs to which organization.

Goals 2, 3 and 4 are met by employong "RSS Feeds" to drive content onto the site, using the Enfeedia.com feed publishing system. To post new material onto the site (e.g., for a meeting announcement or posting meeting minutes or reports), it is no longer necessary to touch the website code at all! Instead, the information is posted by simply filling out a form. Seconds later, that material automatically appears on the site.

Enfeedia offers the ability to specify that a feed may contain "members-only" material, and provides the ability to mark any item on that feed as being that members-only content. To read that material, one must enter a password. Members-only feeds are indicated with the icon.

Finally, because material is posted using RSS technology, one can choose to subscribe to any of the feeds in one of many ways to get automatic indications that new material has been posted on the site, including email alerts (even to your cell phone if you wish!). All without visiting the site, thereby eliminating the need to remember to visit the site from time to time and to search the site for new information. Of course, you can continue to use the website just as you have in the past, but you might find this new feature an improved way to keep track of goings-on at Gold Mountain.

Enjoy!
